The step to Bans 138 Betting And Loan Apps With Chinese Links was taken after confirming that these apps attract Section 69 of the IT Act as they contain material that is prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India.
On Sunday, the central government began banning and blocking 138 betting apps and 94 lending apps with Chinese links on an ‘immediate’ and emergency basis.
According to sources cited by ANI, the MHA recommended MeitY to ban and block these apps this week, and the ministry has initiated the process as per a subsequent communication.
